Hanken School of Economics held a solemn doctoral conferment ceremony on Friday the 30th of October 2009. The ceremony was in the school’s main building in Helsinki, Arkadiankatu 22.

Hankendagen is Hanken’s biggest alumni event and is every year held on the first Friday in October. The event is in alternate years arranged in Helsinki and Vaasa. This year, during Hanken’s 100th anniversary, Hankendagen is arranged in Helsinki on Friday October 2nd 2009. The first Hankendagen was held in 2005.

Focus Forum, Helsinki - Financial Crisis

Hanken started its anniversary with the Hanken Focus Forum, a discussion panel for which the topic was the “Financial Crisis”. The participants discussed the origins of the crisis, its prospects and future expectations. The panellists were Sampo’s President and CEO Björn Wahlroos ETLA’s, Managing Director Sixten Korkman, Nordea’s Chief Analyst Roger Wessman and Hanken’s own expert, Professor Eva Liljeblom. The discussion will be lead by Hanken lecturer, Henrik Palmén.

Hanken Focus Forum - Vaasa

The anniversary in Vaasa started with two lectures, the topic being "Att leda tjänsteföretag". Our guest speaker was Leif Edvinsson from Sweden and he is the first person to be appointed as professor in "Intellektuellt kapital" at the University of Lund. In 1998 Professor Edvinsson was awarded Brain of the Year by the British association The Brain Trust. Our other speaker was Lars-Johan Lindqvist, Professor of Marketing from Hanken in Vaasa. Host of the event was Vice Rector Professor Sören Kock from Hanken in Vaasa.
